Since its release in 2013, the "Egi Leader BS" has captivated many eging fans.

Eight years later, in the autumn of 2021, the Egi Leader BS finally moved to a new stage. The technology that made this evolution possible was "Plasma Rise".

Simply put, PlasmaRise is a technology that "imparts properties using a manufacturing method different from coating, and maintains those properties at a high level." So, what kind of evolution does this represent?

A special polymer layer that absorbs shocks and scratches.

How can we realize the unconventional idea that "if the surface of the leader line is like rubber, it won't get damaged even if it rubs against the rapids"?

The key to solving this lies in Sunline's new technology, "Plasma Rise."

Fluorocarbon is a chemically resistant and poorly bondable material, and any coating applied to it would easily peel off. However, by applying PlasmaRise's special plasma treatment, we have succeeded in forming a "special polymer layer" on the surface of the fluorocarbon.

This significantly improved scratch resistance and binding strength.

●Improved scratch resistance

The cushioning effect of the special polymer layer absorbs abrasions that can cause breakage.
As a result, residual strength after damage is improved.
This means you can confidently fish around reefs and steep drop-offs.
Furthermore, it becomes possible to explore uneven bottoms more thoroughly than before.

●Improved binding energy

The cushioning properties of the special polymer layer improve the grip at the connection point of snaps, swivels, and rings, resulting in increased knotting energy.

 

Compatibility with PE line

The cushioning properties of the special polymer layer make it compatible with PE line.
Because it's a rubber-based polymer layer, the PE line is less likely to slip on the leader's surface when a knot is tied with it. Furthermore, the finished knot becomes even less prone to slipping, thus improving knot strength.

 

● Improved tenacity

To absorb a powerful pull, not only linear strength but also toughness (resilience) is required. This toughness can be quantitatively represented by a physical property called breaking energy.
Sunline's know-how in controlling breaking energy, cultivated through the production of fishing lines for tuna longline fishing, also contributes to improving toughness. Its resilience is impressive, as it can withstand
the powerful pull of large white squid (bigfin reef squid) weighing over 2 kg, and even the super-large red squid (bigfin reef squid) weighing 3-4 kg, and sometimes even over 5 kg (commonly known as "red monsters"), which are propelled by jet propulsion.

 

Special Blacky color

When discussing BS (Black Stream), one essential element is the "Black Stream = Kuroshio Current" color.

The delicate color reduces light scattering, creating a stealth effect that blends into the tide. Less glare on the line during bright daytime conditions means the leader's presence is further reduced. In popular fishing spots frequented by anglers, the black color can be a weapon to overcome difficult situations.

Precautions for use

◎The special polymer layer of Egi Leader BS has rubber-like properties, so special care and attention are required when handling and storing it.

◎To maintain the quality of the fishing line as designed, we ask that you observe the following precautions for all fishing line products.

1. Do not store the product while it is wet or in a hot and humid environment.

There is a possibility that the special polymer layers may fuse together (block).

Recommended storage conditions: 15-25°C, below 50% RH

2. Do not allow it to come into contact with solvents such as alcohol or acetone.

Disinfectant contains alcohol, while nail polish remover contains acetone, among other things.

These substances can cause the thread to swell or dissolve.

3. If any damage is found, replace it immediately.

Damage to the thread can compromise its design strength, so replace it with a new thread immediately. If the special polymer layer is damaged, replace it with a new thread immediately, just as you would with conventional fishing line.

    *Precautions when using NSS line:
    Because the NSS finish results in a soft winding state, depending on how you use it, the lines may dig into each other inside the spool, making it difficult to remove the line.
    To make the most of NSS, please pay attention to the following points when using it:
