It boasts superior casting feel and linear strength exceeding OCEA8. A new PE line for offshore fishing.

A 17-strand structure with 16 sheaths and one core. This new generation offshore PE line combines excellent casting feel with linear strength exceeding OCEA8, resulting in high overall performance for landing big fish. Features Izanas®'s new "SF700" grade.

Key Features

Shimano's strongest PE line ever is born.

The Ocea 17+ boasts the strongest linear strength in Shimano history, surpassing all previous products, providing the performance to confidently tackle even the biggest fish. Its 16-strand construction with a single core, combined with the latest SF700 filament material, achieves an astonishing balance of strength and durability.

17 (16+1) book structure

This line employs a 16-strand braided structure to achieve a smooth surface and excellent line release during casting. The development was inspired by the 16-strand coated structure used in automobile brakes. By applying this structure, which balances durability and flexibility against repeated impacts, a completely new PE line has been created.

By placing a core material in the center of the line, it is possible to prevent line deformation due to twisting and crushing, and maintain the initial performance for a longer period of time.

Advanced wear resistance

The Ocea 17+ achieves higher wear resistance than previous models.

Typically, PE lines with a higher number of twists have thinner individual fibers compared to lines of the same size. This results in a smoother and more even surface, but at the same time, the thinner atoms lead to a decrease in abrasion resistance.

The solution to this contradiction was the adoption of the new standard yarn, "SF700." SF700 is designed with filaments that are three times thicker than conventional yarns, achieving high abrasion resistance at the yarn level. In addition to adopting this new yarn, Shimano's unique surface treatment further enhances abrasion resistance.

Make the vibrant line color last longer

The Ocea 17+ features a new PE line dyeing technology that dramatically improves surface color retention. This results in a higher visibility that lasts longer than conventional PE lines, making it easier to track the lure's trace line during casting and to judge the distance to the fish during a fight.

The performance we aim for with Infinity Connect is "ultimate casting performance."

The Ocea 17+ was developed with Shimano's Infinity Connect philosophy in mind, pursuing perfect matching with the new Stella SW and new Ocea Plugger Limited from the development stage. By combining these reels, rods, and gear, which were developed as a systematic product, the overall casting performance is dramatically enhanced, bringing anglers three benefits: improved casting feel, increased casting distance, and improved line strength retention. This acceleration of the overall tackle performance provides an even greater advantage in offshore casting.

17 (16+1) book structure

A single core material is passed through the 16-strand braided sheath. The presence of this core material prevents deformation due to twisting, making it easier to maintain strength.

Surface smoothness

The smooth 16-guide structure has been given an additional surface coating, resulting in a casting feel that feels like the line is flowing effortlessly from the guides.

The Ocea brand's concept color: navy.

The Ocea 17+ is available in a single navy color. The coloring has been carefully chosen to look beautiful when spooled onto a Stella SW reel. Although it is
a single color, it has markings every 25 meters, which can be used as a guide for casting distance.
In addition, these markings function as a "landing alert" during a fight.
The instructors have learned from their repeated fights with big fish that "starting to prepare the net or spear when there are 25 meters left will allow for a smooth landing."

For understanding casting distance and water depth. 5 color patterns.

The 5-color pattern is color-coded every 10 meters, allowing you to intuitively grasp casting distance and water depth. The highly visible color selection supports comfortable fishing.

When fighting big game fish, you need to obtain various information from the line. This includes the angle and speed at which the line is coming out, and the distance the fish ran in the first run.

Because of the highly visible 5 colors, you can make proactive decisions during the fight.
Above all, just being able to confirm that you are bringing the fish in every 10 meters makes the fight much easier.
