SOM, a company that has pursued the perfection of lever drag reels, presents a new reel.
This new standard reel incorporates groundbreaking features, including the unprecedented "WING DRAG" drag system and a 2-speed level winder that suppresses line tangling.

WING DRAG

This new drag system is as easy to set up as a star drag and as easy to understand as a lever drag.
The mechanism operates by moving a wing back and forth, and the drag can be adjusted in four stages. Each click changes the drag by approximately 400-500g from the initial value set with the preset knob.

[How to set the drag]

To set the drag to the weakest setting (4 levels up to MAX):

ā‘  Push the wing drag towards you.
ā‘” Turn the preset knob to set the initial drag value.
ā‘¢ Pushing the wing drag away allows you to adjust the drag value in stages.

ā–  To set the value in the middle
(2 steps down to MIN, 2 steps down to MAX)

ā‘  Move the wing drag to the center as shown in the picture.
ā‘” Turn the preset knob to set the initial drag value.
ā‘¢ Tilting the wing drag towards you will decrease the drag value, and tilting it away from you will increase the drag value.

3 types of spools

This reel features a system that allows for easy spool replacement with just one screw on the gearbox.
The following three types of spools cover almost all offshore fishing scenarios in coastal waters. Even on relay boats where the type of fish being caught changes during a single trip, you can adapt by simply changing the spool without having to change the reel.

ā‘  Standard spool: PE #2, 300m. Covers light jigging such as jigging for bluefin tuna in coastal waters.
ā‘” Deep groove spool: PE #2, 600m. Deep groove design for mid-depth jigging. *Sold separately
ā‘¢ Shallow groove spool: PE #1.5, 300m. For lighter fishing than the standard spool. *Sold separately

[How to replace the spool]

The palming cup can be easily removed by simply loosening the screw on the gearbox side, allowing for spool replacement.

The winding power inherited from Blue Heaven

Featuring an aluminum machine-cut gearbox and frame, the gears utilize high-modulus gears inherited from the Blue Heaven series. The superior body rigidity, which resists distortion even under drag load, combined with the high-modulus gears, delivers powerful winding. Winding power transmission efficiency is 9% higher compared to other manufacturers' 300-class reels*.
*Comparison based on numerical values of handle input load and the resulting spool rotation force.

2-speed level winder

It employs a linked level winder. Furthermore, the level winder has been made two-speed.
By alternating between tight winding and crisscross winding with each back-and-forth movement of the level winder, the line will not get caught and break even under high load, allowing you to fight the fish with confidence.

Wide spool

The BS35 features a wide spool.
By widening the spool, the amount of line retrieved is less affected by water depth, allowing for jig action that matches your intentions.

High-durability clutch

While other companies' clutch bars in the same class are made of plastic, the BS35 features a clutch bar and cam constructed from stainless steel, boasting superior strength and durability.
Furthermore, the clutch bar is treated with a DLC coating, reducing friction when in contact with the pinion gear and ensuring consistently smooth clutch operation even under high loads or prolonged use.

Carbon drag washers, stainless steel drag discs

The combination of carbon drag washers and stainless steel drag discs provides smooth initial action and stable drag force, delivering excellent drag performance that remains consistent even during long fights.

Waterproof drag design

The drag system, composed of multiple drag washers, is covered with a waterproof rubber cover.
This prevents water from entering the drag disc even in offshore conditions where the reel is constantly exposed to water, contributing to consistently stable drag.

A new concept in handle design

The handle knob uses AG41 material, designed with fighting large fish in mind. The handle arm has a variable system of 76mm and 63mm, designed to be counterbalanced at 76mm and perfectly balanced at 63mm.
For jigging targeting bluefin tuna, the 76mm counterbalanced setting makes jig manipulation easier, while for hairtail jigging and tai rubber fishing, the perfectly balanced setting allows for easy one-pitch or constant-speed retrieval. In this way, one handle can be set to suit the target and fishing method.
