BREAK YOUR RECORD - Seize your dream and catch it

"Someday, I'll catch that fish." SALTIGA was born to make anglers' dreams come true. It inherits the strongest genes of DAIWA offshore fishing and continues to evolve with the latest technology.
Its premise is to confront unknown giants. It continues to challenge the limits of tackle, pursuing strength in every area, ease of use, and superior performance. The SALTIGA is expected to be a tackle that will surely bring you closer to your dream fish. Continuing to fulfill its purpose means that anglers' dreams will come true. Its reliable performance supports the dreams of anglers all over the world.

A multi-piece casting rod that can take on big fish from all over the world.

The stage is the "world." This multi-piece casting rod lets you go head-to-head with big fish not only in Japan but all over the world on expeditions
. With a collapsed length of less than 90cm, it's highly portable and allows for nimble footwork on expeditions. In addition to the tough blank that's the hallmark of SALTIGA, it also achieves a beautiful, supple bend despite being a 3-piece rod.
With the world as your field, the SALTIGA EXPEDITION will make your memorable catch come true, unconstrained by borders or fish species.

Daiwa Technology

X45 Full Shield (=X45 Cobra Shield)
The X45 Full Shield construction effectively tightens the outermost layer of the blank with a 45° carbon bias cross from the tip, where twisting is most likely to occur during casting, action, hooking, and fighting. This dramatically improves torsional rigidity, allowing for greater casting accuracy and bringing out the rod's true potential.
V-JOINTα
By using high-strength nanoalloy material in the joint and utilizing DAIWA's unique precision processing technology, the V-Joint α was born, evolving the V-Joint to be even stronger, lighter, and with a cleaner bend. For fishing that requires repeated casting, making the joint thinner allows the entire blank to be slimmer, improving the ease of casting and operability.
HVF NANOPLUS
"High-density HVF carbon" reduces the amount of resin and instead increases the density of the carbon fiber, making it the ideal material for rods that emphasize toughness and strength. By combining Toray Industries, Inc.'s Nanoalloy technology with Daiwa's unique manufacturing process, it is possible to achieve even higher strength and lighter weight.

Tester impressions

Nakamura Tester

With this EXPEDITION, I focused on the taper, a wide range of lure options, action, and maneuverability.
I tested the taper countless times, even having samples sent to me and repeatedly fishing with them, and it was a struggle. Increasing the number of sections meant increasing the number of bending sections, so I focused not only on a clean curve, but also on how to lift a GT, which has a large surface area, and how to minimize strain on the body. The 710-8 and 77-10, which I mainly tested, have an overall regular bend. When GT and yellowtail hit, the current often forces the fish to the other side while fighting, and then I land them. The regular bend makes it easier to move smoothly across the deck while fighting against the belly.
Next, I focused on a wide range of lure options, action, and maneuverability. For GT, I use diving pencils, but sometimes I sink heavy sinking pencils or use large-diameter poppers to make a big impact on the surface.
The 710-8 is extremely easy to use with diving pencils, medium-diameter poppers, and heavy sinking pencils.
The tip bends easily, making it easy to control diving pencils, and the butt section of the lure catches the force of medium-diameter poppers, allowing them to bite into the bubbles and swim smoothly.
The 77-10 may sound short at first glance, but it's actually 231cm long, which is only 8cm different from the 710-8, which is 239cm long.
"Only 8cm? 8cm?" some may ask, but the shorter length improves control, increases swing speed, and ensures greater casting distance.

Also, large-diameter poppers are incredibly easy to cast. Having seen numerous lures underwater, GTs have become increasingly wary over the years. To activate them, I cast a variety of lures, including diving pencils and poppers. However, when it comes to setting myself apart, a large-diameter popper is the best choice.
Large-diameter poppers can be a bit of a pain, but when casting for GTs, you naturally need to maintain a steady reel. I believe the 77-10 allows me to do this consistently without putting strain on my body. I personally believe that the choice of rod, not just the lure, is crucial when it comes to activating the GT when it's not biting. Also, when I say "operability," I don't just mean lure control, but also your own control during the fight.
For example, I reviewed the grip length and reel seat position, slightly extending the front grip to improve stability during the fight. The front grip has flat sides and slits, so it fits perfectly, is non-slip, and provides a long-lasting grip.
The grip end also features the slash cut found on the Saltiga Breakthrough, which is a nice touch. Customers who travel long distances generally want to minimize their luggage, so recently, more and more of them have been saying they don't bring gimbal rods.
I don't usually use gimbal rods, but when it comes to large GTs in the 50kg class, fighting with a BRC without a gimbal can be a bit painful. However, thanks to the slash cut on the EXPEDITION, I can fight with a stable belly protector without any pain.
I personally run a GT casting recreational fishing boat in my hometown of Okinawa, and while I don't necessarily need a three-piece rod, I really like the retractable length of this reel, which fits within 90cm. It's great for loading into a car or for transport. While
this retractable length isn't particularly necessary for me, running a local recreational fishing boat, it's still very useful.
Also, many of the customers on board are expeditions from outside Okinawa Prefecture, and due to the nature of the area, the majority of anglers inevitably fly in and rent a car to get here.
Some customers bring standard two-piece rods, but they are about as long as the angler is, and transporting them to the airport or port can be quite a hassle.
That's why I would recommend the EXPEDITION not only to anglers who travel long distances, but also to customers who travel by themselves to cast for yellowtail or amberjack.

Whether traveling domestically or internationally, the weight and size of your luggage can be stressful. Long rod cases, in particular, are heavy and take up a lot of space.
The SALTIGA EXPEDITION's folded length is less than 90cm, so you can travel with your rods stored in a short, lightweight rod case. Even if your local car or taxi is small, you can carry it without any hassle.
The 82-6 has a fast, regular taper, which allows it to bend smoothly during casting and when hooking a fish, making it a pleasure to use.
Even when using the rod with a slightly upright position, it bends beautifully, making it very comfortable to use. The rod's sharp swing allows for long distance casting with the Cuddler 160, 185, and Flosser 170.
Thanks to the rod's excellent bend, you can slowly control the trajectory, making it possible to cast long distances even in headwinds.
Because it is gentle on the body, at first glance it may not seem like it is suited to powerful fights, but it bends in a way that you wouldn't expect from a 3-piece rod, absorbing the power of the fish and allowing for powerful lifts after stopping the fish.
I really like how it bends beautifully without any stiffness while maintaining just the right amount of tension.

The 82-8 and 82-10 have a fast taper, so I think they're more of a flicking rod than a bending rod for casting. If you bend the rod firmly at the beginning, you can cast the lure cleanly even with a lighter swing.
You can cast far with 60-70% of your strength, so they're gentle on your body. The rod's tip is easy to insert, so you feel secure even when a fish is hooked and shaking its head.
When the fish charges, the butt bends well, so your body feels comfortable even when you apply heavy loads. The high drag and rod's tension, combined with the rod's ability to hold the fish still, seem to help keep them still.
The 82-8 can cast long distances with both the Cuddler 185 and 200, and the 82-10 casts 240-size lures with ease.
A unique feature of all rods is the slash cut rear grip, which is very gentle on the belly, allowing you to bend the rod as much as you want and fight the fish without worrying about pain.
You can feel the fish putting pressure on you, but it's a strange feeling because it's gentle on your body.
Also, the shape of the front grip with its carved sides is great. It stabilizes the raising and lowering of the rod when pumping, so there is almost no loss of power when reeling, which I like.
