The Air Drive design, a design concept that aims to allow anglers to control lures at will, has finally been adopted for the CALDIA. ZAION V, which inherits the essence of ZAION, is used for the main parts, the body and rotor, achieving a high level of lightness and high rigidity. A new 5000 size has been added, targeting a wider range of fishing types than ever before, including surf fishing and light shore jigging. Experience Daiwa's true commitment with the CALDIA, which has been elevated to a new level by incorporating two major technologies in Daiwa's small spinning reels: Air Drive design and a monocoque body.

Daiwa Technology

AIRDRIVE DESIGN
Air Drive Design is a next-generation spinning reel design concept that pursues the angler's desire to control lures exactly as they wish. Air Drive Design is comprised of up to four technologies. Its prerequisite is the Air Drive Rotor, which produces light winding and highly responsive rotation. It also features a lightweight, trouble-free Air Drive Bail, a thin-walled Air Drive Spool with minimal unnecessary material, and an Air Drive Shaft with a high-precision collar supporting the main shaft and a non-contact structure with the pinion gear, enabling light winding with extremely little rotational noise even under heavy loads. The synergistic effect of these technologies, combined with the improved weight balance of the reel, delivers a high level of operability.
*The 25CALDIA is equipped with an AIRDRIVE ROTOR, AIRDRIVE BAIL, and AIRDRIVE SPOOL.
AIRDRIVE ROTOR
Using our unique theory, we have derived a new shape that is as if it were cut out of a sphere, and by thoroughly removing unnecessary material, we have achieved a significant weight reduction while maintaining rigidity.This has resulted in a dramatic improvement in the lightness of the reel's winding, which leads to improved operability and sensitivity.
AIRDRIVE BAIL
The Air Bail has a hollow pipe structure that provides rigidity and lightness, but to achieve even greater weight reduction, the diameter has been reduced while maintaining the necessary strength. The bail angle is set to an optimal angle that allows the line to transition more smoothly from the bail to the line roller. This makes it even lighter and less troublesome.
AIRDRIVE SPOOL
A thin-walled design has been achieved by eliminating unnecessary material to achieve the ultimate in lightweight design. Not only has the spool skirt been designed to be thin, but the interior of the spool has also been thoroughly lightened. The lighter spool has improved operability, including lighter winding and casting. Furthermore, a drag sound mechanism with less operating resistance has been implemented to improve response when the drag is activated.
MONOCOQUE BODY
Monocoque body technology for strength and durability. Conventional spinning reels typically use a body and body cover to support both ends of the drive gear, secured in place with a few screws. Aiming to further improve precision and rigidity, the monocoque body eliminates the body cover and secures the drive gear by screwing a high-precision plate directly into the body. This increases gear support precision, while also improving rigidity and airtightness. Furthermore, by utilizing the space previously occupied by screws, we have succeeded in expanding the size of the drive gear to its maximum. The term "monocoque body" comes from the Japanese words "mono" (single) and "coque" (shell). This completely new shape, symbolizing the strength of a single shell, breaks the conventional wisdom of reel construction.
MAGSEALED
DAIWA's unique waterproof structure creates a wall of magnetic mag oil in the gap between the body and rotor, shutting out seawater, dust, and other elements.

ZAION V
Lighter and stronger reels. Zaion V (V) is a carbon hybrid resin developed for that purpose. By precisely controlling the amount of carbon used in the hybrid, we have achieved a lightness that surpasses that of metal, while achieving high levels of strength comparable to that of metal, while also providing versatility that allows it to be mounted on a wide range of reels. It inherits the essence of Zaion, which could be said to be the maximum spec of carbon hybrid resin.

TOUGH DIGIGEAR
To withstand harsh environments, a reel needs a strong heart to support it. "Tough Digigear" keeps rotation smooth for longer.
ATD TYPE-L
The ATD operates smoothly and continues to work smoothly in response to the pull of the fish. The ATD TYPE-L has improved initial response. Its smooth start and tracking performance allow you to concentrate on fighting the fish without worrying about the drag setting.

ATD TOUGH
The ATD operates smoothly and continues to work smoothly in response to the pull of the fish. The ATD Tough uses carbon washers to achieve high durability. The pursuit of smooth start and tracking allows you to concentrate on the fight without worrying about the drag setting.
LC-ABS (Long Cast ABS)
While maintaining the ABS II concept of reducing contact resistance, the contact point has been moved forward to achieve smoother line release. The forward-moving ring makes it harder for the line to get caught on the ring, resulting in an approximately 5% increase in casting distance and trouble-free casting compared to the previous ABS II. This is the next generation ABS spool that achieves LC (long cast).

The newly added 5000 model comes standard with a power light EVA knob that is easy to grip and apply force to. This supports heavy lures and reeling under heavy loads.

■Perfect Line Stopper
A new line stopper design that is compatible with both thin lines such as PE and thick lines such as leaders. The horizontal shape saves space vertically and contributes to a lighter spool.
■Stopperless body
The body structure has been simplified by removing the stopper. By deciding to remove the stopper, which is a route for water and foreign objects to get in, we have not only reduced the weight and improved the waterproof performance, but also minimized the risk of sudden trouble when fishing in harsh environments or when fishing for large fish, which are required of the 25CALDIA.
