The potential hidden within the highly rigid HAGANE body is unleashed through an internal mechanism that can withstand heavy loads and numerous functions that enable thrilling battles with thin lines. By miniaturizing the teeth of the pinion and main gears and increasing the number of teeth compared to conventional models, gear noise is significantly reduced by creating a denser meshing mechanism. Without compromising strength, the smooth winding feel and power transmission are greatly enhanced by the reduced gear noise, adding Shimano's signature smooth winding. The result is a feeling that brings joy not only during the fight with the fish, but even when retrieving the rig.

The winding resistance is determined by the maximum winding length (calculated using the gear ratio and spool diameter) and the handle length.

The gear ratio is higher than the previous model, but the spool diameter is smaller. Furthermore, the handle length is longer than the previous model, resulting in a reduction of approximately 6% in handle load (winding resistance) (*).

The frame material uses magnesium, the same magnesium used in Shimano's flagship spinning reel, the Stella, renowned for its high rigidity. This ensures a remarkably light weight of 145g across all models, while maintaining high body rigidity that allows you to confidently handle even high-load fights. If the body flexes, power is lost. Shimano's unique centrifugal brake enhances casting distance with its rapid spool rotation startup. By suppressing backlash, it makes casting easy for anyone. For example, in filefish fishing, where it's not uncommon to search horizontally when there's no reaction after searching vertically, this is now an essential function.

In 2026, a new, highly versatile HG (High Gear) model was added, bringing the total gear ratio lineup to three types. By choosing the optimal model to suit your target and fishing method, you can enjoy light game fishing from a boat more comfortably.

For fishing for filefish, where quick deployment and retrieval of the rig are necessary, or for pufferfish, where you need to instantly hook the fish when it bites upwards, choosing the XG model, which has a longer retrieve length per handle rotation, will increase the number of approaches you can take. On the other hand, for fishing for hairtail using the tenya method, where you need to be able to handle strong pulls, or for fishing for sea bream with a tai rubber lure, where a stable, constant-speed retrieve is essential, the PG model, with its superior winding power and high winding stability, will prove its worth.
