The Shimano 09 TwinPower SW 4000PG is a legendary, built like a tank, heavy-duty saltwater spinning reel first released in 2008. The "PG" stands for Power Gear, meaning it is built with a lower gear ratio to give you immense cranking power—like a truck in low gear—making it perfect for heavy jigging and wrestling stubborn fish out of deep water.

Key Technical Specifications
Gear Ratio: 4.6:1 or 4.7:1 (Low speed, high torque)
Weight: ~295g to 315g (Built with a highly rigid aluminum Hagane Body)
Max Drag: 11 kg (24.2 lbs)
Ball Bearings: 10 + 1 S A-RB (Shielded Anti-Rust Bearings)
Line Capacity (PE Braided):
  • PE 1.0 (approx. 10–15lb braid): ~490 meters
  • PE 1.5 (approx. 15–20lb braid): ~320 meters
  • PE 2.0 (approx. 20–25lb braid): ~240 meters
What Makes the "09" Model Special?
Stella DNA: The 2009 TwinPower SW was famously known for inheriting heavy-duty tech directly from Shimano's flagship Stella SW series.
AR-C Spool: It features a special angled spool lip that helps your line fly off smoothly, giving you longer casts and fewer wind knots.
Made in Japan: Anglers highly seek out this specific generation because of its elite Made in Japan build quality, meaning it is incredibly reliable and holds its value well on the used market.

Best Uses
Light to Medium Saltwater Jigging: Excellent for micro-jigging or vertical jigging where you need to constantly crank heavy lures against high water resistance.
Bottom Fishing: The high torque allows you to pull reef fish away from rocks and structures quickly before they can break your line.
Inshore and Kayak Fishing: Its size is manageable enough for inshore setups, but its strength can easily handle surprise encounters with larger game fish.
