This Power Drive Design consists of two technology units: the body unit [Power Drive Engine] and the rotor unit [Power Drive Rotor]. The
[Power Drive Engine] is made up of two technologies: the large-diameter [Oversized Power Digigear] and the [Roller Power Oscillation] that uses a ball bearing system. These are housed in the large-sized "Full Metal (AL) Monocoque Body" that is extremely strong, making it light from the initial movement and providing a more efficient and powerful winding force.
The front unit is made up of the metal (AL) [Power Drive Rotor], which is based on the [Power Drive Engine]. With a rational spherical shape, it achieves further rigidity while maintaining low inertia. The synergistic effect of the [Crank Power Bail] and [Tough Line Roller System] installed in this rotor enables accurate line delivery and a smooth transition to winding operation.
While reviewing the fundamental design concept of the reel, the drag mechanism was also completely redesigned. Up to the 14000 model, ATD Tough is used, which is made up of a total of 14 washers made of carbon and metal, while the 18000 model and above are equipped with a new drag mechanism called DRD. This is a completely new mechanism with eight metal rollers on one plate, which suppresses the decrease in drag force due to frictional heat. Daiwa Technology
MONOCOQUE BODY
Strong and durable technology, monocoque body. Conventional spinning reels generally support both ends of the drive gear with the body and body cover, and secure them with several screws. In order to further improve precision and rigidity, the monocoque body eliminates the body cover and secures the gear by screwing a high-precision plate directly into the body. This improves the support precision of the gear, and also improves rigidity and airtightness. Furthermore, by utilizing the space previously taken up by the screw, we have succeeded in expanding the size of the drive gear to its maximum. The monocoque body means MONO (one) - COQUE (shell). The completely new shape, which symbolizes the strength of a single shell, breaks the conventional wisdom of reel structure.

POWERDRIVE ENGINE

OVERSIZED POWER DIGIGEAR
The highly durable MC Tough Digigear made of G1 duralumin has been made 10% larger in diameter and 6% thicker, making it the strongest gear ever (based on our calculation method). Even during long, high-load fights, the gears are designed to maintain a stable meshing, minimizing deflection. By significantly reducing power transmission loss, we promise smooth winding.
ROLLER POWER OSCILLATION
When fighting a large fish, where high loads continue relentlessly, the frictional resistance of the oscillating part caused by winding leads to power transmission loss. In order to reduce that friction as much as possible, the sliding part has been changed from the conventional pillar type to a two-ball bearing type oscillator. This has improved the oscillation efficiency by about 30%, realizing smooth initial response even under high loads and light, powerful winding. *Based on our own comparative test.
POWERDRIVE ROTOR
The Power Drive Rotor of the front unit has a rational spherical shape that combines rigidity and low inertia. It is composed of the Power Drive Rotor equipped with two technologies, the Crank Power Veil and the Tough Line Roller System. The unique rotor shape, which looks as if it was cut out of a sphere, is symmetrical and highly balanced with respect to the axis of rotation, ensuring high rigidity against sudden external forces. The veil and line roller mounted on this rotor have also been redesigned, enabling accurate line delivery and a smooth transition to winding operation.

CRANK POWER BAIL
In big games, the most important thing is to instantly reel in the line no matter when or where you are. The veil shape with an optimally inclined crank and the strengthened spring mechanism ensure that the tensioned line is guided to the line roller and prevent unexpected opening and closing. In addition, the hollow pipe structure with a thick shaft ensures high rigidity.
TOUGH LINE ROLLER SYSTEM
In order to withstand repeated high loads, the roller shaft is designed with a larger support surface and is integrated with the bail arm, eliminating the rattling that previously occurred at the joint and significantly improving durability. In addition, the newly designed PE-only line roller reduces friction with the line, achieving lighter winding. This tough new mechanism significantly improves rigidity, durability, and trouble-free performance.

DRD
DRD is a completely new drag mechanism that can withstand the repeated running of large fish over a long period of time and prevents wear and tear and seizure at high drag ranges. The DRD washer, which is equipped with eight metal rollers on one metal plate, replaces the carbon washers used in conventional drags. It prevents the drag force from decreasing due to frictional heat and is more than five times more durable than a carbon washer (based on our comparative tests). It also contributes to a smooth start.

ATD TOUGH

MAGSEALED
DAIWA's unique waterproof structure creates a wall of magnetic oil in the gap between the body and rotor, blocking out seawater, dust, and other elements.

MAGSEALED LINE ROLLER
The line roller is the part that receives the water and sand that the line picks up directly. LC-ABS SW
